The first of eighteen apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the humble Bernadette took place at Lourdes on February 11th, 1858. On March 25th, when Bernadette asked the Beautiful Lady her name, she replied, “I am the Immaculate Conception”.
The devotion of people all over the world to Our Lady of Lourdes, together with the countless miracles that have been wrought through her intercession has caused one of the most marvelous regeneration in the history of the church and the world.
Lots of miracles have occurred at Lourdes for both Catholics and non-Catholics and there have been many conversions. Bernadette herself was a very sick person but our beloved Mother chose her to be her spokesperson and bring her message to the world. And her message was and has always been for us to repent of our sins. Anytime we sin, we cause the Divine Heart of her Son to bleed and as a Mother, she cannot watch without doing anything. The water which flowed from the earth when she asked Bernadette to scrap the earth is there to date. People, even saints benefited from this miraculous stream. St Rita of Cascia is one. Remember the pierced wound from the crucifix on her forehead? Right!
Remember the Blessed Virgin Mary is the link between the Holy Trinity. She is the Beloved Daughter of the Father, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, and Mother of the Son. Therefore, whatever she says is divine. She is also the Walking Tabernacle because she carried God in her divine womb.
Every apparition is very important especially when Holy Mother Church approves it. Let us always remember the special love and protection of our Blessed Mother so pure, so that we may with the help and grace of God, avoid all sin and make her proud. She can appear to you any day to carry her message to the world, therefore be alert.
